Rebecca Bauer-Kahan Endorsed by Planned Parenthood Northern California Action Fund
Bauer-Kahan Only Candidate Who Will Defend a Woman’s Right to Choose, Organization Says
Orinda, CA — Rebecca Bauer-Kahan announced today that she has received the sole endorsement of Planned Parenthood Northern California Action Fund for her campaign for the Assembly in the 16th District. The organization cited Bauer-Kahan’s commitment to protecting women’s health and a woman’s right to choose.
“Our reproductive freedoms are facing unprecedented attacks and we desperately need leaders at the local and state level who will never waiver in the fight to protect these rights,” said Gilda Gonzales, CEO of Planned Parenthood Northern California Action Fund.
“Rebecca Bauer-Kahan is the only candidate in AD16 who we can count on to stand up – every time – to protect reproductive health access for all and a woman's right to choose. That’s why Planned Parenthood Northern California Action Fund is proud to give Rebecca our sole endorsement for Assembly District 16.”
Planned Parenthood Northern California Action Fund is an independent, nonpartisan, not-for-profit membership organization formed as the advocacy and political arm of Planned Parenthood Northern California. The Action Fund engages in educational and electoral activity, including grassroots organizing, legislative advocacy and voter education.
Bauer-Kahan is running against incumbent Republican Assemblymember Catharine Baker. Baker has failed to defend reproductive rights in the Assembly, voting with Planned Parenthood less than half the time. Most notably, Baker sided with right-wing extremists to oppose the most important and high-profile piece of pro-choice legislation she has faced in her tenure, the FACT Act (AB 775 in 2015).
The 16th Assembly District includes parts of Contra Costa and Alameda Counties, including the cities and towns of Dublin, Lafayette, Livermore, Orinda, Pleasanton, San Ramon, Walnut Creek, Danville and Moraga.
