Local Education Leaders Announce Support for
Rebecca Bauer-Kahan for Assembly

Leaders Cite Bauer-Kahan’s Commitment to Local Public Schools

Orinda, CA — A number of local elected school board members and education leaders announced today that they have endorsed Rebecca Bauer-Kahan for the California State Assembly’s 16th District. The leaders include Orinda Union School Board President Carol Brown, Orinda Union School Board Vice President Hillary Weiner, Lafayette School Board Member Meredith Meade and Mt. Diablo Unified School Board Member Brian Lawrence.

These education leaders say they support Bauer-Kahan because of her focus on public education, including her commitment to fully fund public education, universal preschool and more affordable higher education.

“Rebecca Bauer-Kahan will be the advocate our local students need in the Assembly,” said Orinda Union School Board President Carol Brown. “She will make public education a top priority, fully funding our public schools, fighting for universal preschool, making college more affordable and giving every child the opportunity to succeed.”

Earlier this week, Bauer-Kahan also announced the endorsement of former Assemblymember Joan Buchanan, who served as Assembly Education Committee Chair and was a school board member for 18 years, before representing AD16.

Bauer-Kahan is an accomplished attorney, environmental advocate, community volunteer and law professor. A Bay Area native, she has dedicated herself to improving our community, solving complex problems, protecting civil rights and fighting to ensure everyone has the opportunity to succeed. She is the mother of three young children, who all attend (or will soon attend) local public schools.

The 16th Assembly District includes parts of Contra Costa and Alameda Counties, including the cities and towns of Dublin, Lafayette, Livermore, Orinda, Pleasanton, San Ramon, Walnut Creek, Danville and Moraga.
