Former Assemblymember Joan Buchanan Endorses
Rebecca Bauer-Kahan for Assembly
Orinda, CA — Rebecca Bauer-Kahan announced today that she has received the endorsement of former Assemblymember Joan Buchanan for her campaign for California State Assembly’s 16th District. Buchanan represented the district in the Assembly from 2008 to 2014.
Bauer-Kahan is an accomplished attorney, environmental advocate, community volunteer, law professor and mother. A Bay Area native, she has dedicated herself to improving our community, solving complex problems, protecting civil rights and fighting to ensure everyone has the opportunity to succeed.
As an attorney, Bauer-Kahan specialized in ensuring major corporations complied with environmental laws and regulations, while maintaining profitability. She lives in Orinda with her husband and three children and is a leader in a number of local non-profits and organizations. For the last seven years, she has taught appellate law and legal research and writing at local law schools.
As a member of the Assembly and Chair of the Assembly’s Education Committee, Buchanan focused on investing in public education, as well as fiscal accountability, technology and innovation, and job creation. Before being elected to the Assembly, she served on the San Ramon Valley School Board for 18 years.
The 16th Assembly District includes parts of Contra Costa and Alameda Counties, including the cities and towns of Dublin, Lafayette, Livermore, Orinda, Pleasanton, San Ramon, Walnut Creek, Danville and Moraga.
